ICONS

I've recently come down with a slight case of icon addiction, despite the fact that I don't really have an online journal/blog. I really like the creativity that some people pour into their little 100 X 100 px boxes. I'm afraid my style is a bit bleh; I'm hoping to rectify that with more practice.

Some of these icons are simply cropped screencaps and some are more finishedy. Feel free to take, use or modify any of the icons below. Credit is not necessary, but please don't say they're 100% yours, because that's fortified with all sorts of suckitude.

Guess Who?

To which band does this tuba player belong? if you know the answer, email me with your guess. First person to guess correctly will win four custom icons by moi!

If there are no correct guesses by my next site update, I'll start dropping hints!

Round 4: Stumper!

Question: who are these two people?

Answer: Detectives Angela Kosmo and Mick Leary from Da Vinci's Inquest.

Congrats to kendi, who won Guess Who, Round 3!

Question: What is this video game called?

Answer: Pooyan. I seriously didn't think anyone would get it, but I guess there are still some Commodore 64 diehards out there in the world.

Congrats to Rachel & Twink, who won Guess Who, Round 2!

Question: What cartoon is this icon from?

Answer: ALF Tales, which was miles and miles better than the live action ALF. Seriously. It was some good stuff.

Congrats to MBladez, who won Guess Who, Round 1!

The poser: who exactly is this person?! The answer: Christine, AKA Moose from the irreverant 80s Nickelodeon chestnut, You Can't Do That On Television

I truly hope those who read the question and answered, "I don't know" were not assaulted with green slime from the 'bove.

Television Shows

NEW! Show: Kids in the Hall

Now that I own a computer with DVD-playing capabilities I can start capping my favourite shows! I've started with KitH, and I can guarantee there will be more KitHish icons in the future. For now: The Eeeeeradica-tor!

Show: Arrested Development
Cap credit: _jems_

Two brothers, one funny, dead-before-its-time show = one individual who bides her time making icons until season 3 comes out on DVD.

Show: The Colbert Report
Cap credit: wonkyear.com

Freem!

Show: The Office
Cap credit: time-enough.net,
bellanut, _jems_, sweet innocence

Always feel free to add text. I leave it off because I can never think of anything clever to type up.

Show: The X-Files
Cap credit: _jems_

A recent one-week bout of sickness got me reaquainted with The X-Files. (I had gone through my entire DVD collection and started on my ancient VHS collection). I had totally forgotten what a great show this was.

Show: Firefly
Cap credit: craftymonkie.com

It's the man they call Jayne! (And the gun he calls Vera!)

Show: The Young Ones
Cap credit: more_than_us
Brush credit: oxoniensis.com

A bit of Rik, Vyv, Mike and Neil. The last icon came from an image search where I was searching for something else.

"This is actually very serious."

Miscellaneous Movies

Show: Shaun of the Dead
Cap credit: scarletumbrella

Recent, first-time viewing of Shaun of the Dead (whatever TOOK me so long?!) = Shaun bonanza at PAD this month. Dolls and icons to go! The bottom two really need text. I'm really bad at text-choosing when it comes to icons . . . so feel free to add your own!

I also need to show more constraint when constraining.

Show: Willow
Cap credit: onetimeoffer

Classic Val Kilmer moment. Oh, Madmartigan. Falling for Sorcha, even after she kicked you in the face.

Show: Little Miss Sunshine

Made this within a few hours of watching Little Miss Sunshine at the theatre. I saw it on my own, and I guess making this icon was a way of discussing the movie with myself. ;)

Show: O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Cap credit: peacefully

Not sure if I'm that hot on this icon, but after my 533rd viewing of this movie, I just had to pay tribute to Mr. Ulysses Everett McGill, the pater familias of the McGill clan.

Show: Grosse Pointe Blank
Cap credit: _jems_

See Grosse Pointe Blank screencaps. See me get excited. See me make fairly meh icons.

Oh yes, and see one of my favourite movies (if for nothing but John Cusack in a suit. You'll thank me.)

Cartoons/Comics

Origin: The Tick

It's the Caped Chameleon from The Tick animated series, and his one achilles' heel, spelled out for all the world to see.

Origin: Asterix

For when you're in a "These Romans are crazy" kind of mood, I just had to create a small homage to my favourite comic series growing up.

Origin: homestarrunner.com
Art credit: The Brothers Chaps

NEW! Get ye flask and Strongbad wrestling a cougar.

I actually have a lot of hsr icons, but I just noticed they're all sorts of weird sizes. I'll rectify that at a future time when my eyelids aren't gallantly fighting gravity.

Music

NEW! Generic music icons

Oh, the joy of finally being able to cap some of my favourite music videos. If you really want to know, this is Sloan, however, I purposely cropped these shots so that they are not band-specific. Feel free to modify them and make your own custom icons. Sloan has been bestowed with the mighty power of rock posing, so go ahead and use these powers for the forces of awesome!

NEW! Band: Sloan

So I was able to wring about 150 worthwhile caps out of Sloan's "If It Feels Good Do It" video. I do so enjoy this video. It rocks with an a-w. I can't invest my time? Obviously I can.

Band: They Might Be Giants
Cap/Art credit: ?, The Brothers Chaps

Ana Ng, The Guitar and Experimental film video stills. The first three are from a site that winked out of existence around 2003. The last two are captures from homestarrunner.com

Display only - please do not use!

Cap credit: Google image search

Hadn't made icons in awhile, so I used EE's Sunshine Month wish fulfilment program to get me back in the icony swing of things. The fairytale icon and Prestige icons were made on request.

Cap credit: Me!

Rabbits were the name of the request game when kendi won the latest guess who challenge. No pop culture references? Egad! Challenging!

Cap credit: A Siren's Carousel

Twink's reward as co-winner of the latest installment of the Guess Who icon game. (Rachel, if you're reading this - check your email!)

Cap credit: craftymonkie.com (Firefly)
_jems_ (Arrested Development)
caithream
(Kids In the Hall)
lothlorienbaby's screencaps
(Ros & Guil)

A plethora of icons I made for a friend of mine.

Cap credit: Google image search

Four icons custom made for MBladez, the winner of the first round of my guess the icon "contest". A little bit of Farscape (top row) and a little bit of Firefly (bottom row).

Cap credit: Google image search

These four Brad Pitt icons were made as part of my Secret Santa gift to Sabby. Unbeknownst to me, I went through an intensive Brad Pitt image search at about the same time as the whole naked tabloid photo scandal. Let's just say that Google's "naughty pic" filter still has some flaws. Unexpectedness!

I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to Mr. Pitt, but I have to say I liked him in Snatch and Meet Joe Black. Especially MJB. I've said it before and I'll say it again: three-piece suit, people! Three-piece suit! Rawr.
