Base: Eden Enchanted exclusive (forum closed). Edit by Silindor Dolls

Sloooooowly clearing out my doll queue. This is actually the last doll I started, but the first one I finished. I knew she would be hard, so I forced myself to stick with it until I was done. This is Jo (aka Rhudriel)'s character/muse in all her rock & roll glory. Jo mentioned that she likes loud music with a lot of guitar, so I figured she would be a fan of Danko Jones.

Base: The Last Storm

It's only four months late, but it's done! This is a custom doll made for Shannon, the winner of the Beyond the Mask contest. She requested a doll of her elegant, aqueous character Marina.

I fought the .gif monster and the .gif monster won, I fought the .gif monster and the .gif monster won
Dadada da da da, dadada daaaaa . . . .

Base: Eclectic Blue

Rhudriel's beyootiful dragonfly doll was the judges' unanimous choice for first place in my recent Three Columns Contest, and this is the reward doll I created for her. I was inspired by her dragonfly theme, and tried to work it into a modern, funky outfit. Not that you could really tell. Still, I like the shirt and I think I may be getting better at skirt folds. What's not getting better is my tendency to screw up the perspective on a foot or leg when drawing boots or pants. One foot here should be pointing 45 degrees the other way . . . but I won't tell you which. >:)

Just a teeny thank you to my regular panel of contest judges, who are always ready, able and willing to help me out with my contests. Yay, mysterious panel!

Base: Nellz Dollz

You know, I could totally say that I was going for a plastic MLP look here and probably get away with it, but the sad truth is that I'm still not sure how to deal with outlines. Colouring books never required shading, so I never developed that particular skillset. I'll get it one day. One day! Anyway, these are a couple of donations to the FF treasure chest, gussied up in FF forum colours.

Base: Mariiiis Doll House

Hmmm . . . yes. About this one. This is a doll for FeyMeggan, who won the Mini-Series contest. She gave me a bushel of characters to choose from, so I selected an intriguing ninja character . . . and proceeded to put her in a business suit. You know, even when I have a plan of attack, the result can be schizophrenic. I have no idea where my brain was with this one. I only hope that when it returns, it brings back some souvenirs.

On the plus side, I really love the shoes!

Base: Xandorra's Place

It amazes me how so many dollers can cram so much wonderful detail in these teeny prep bases. Obviously, I'm not there yet, but I'm trying! Also attempted: a silky look. It's a journey! A loooooong journey . . . .

Base: Miaka's Dolls

You know what's great about having an unreasonably large base collection? Scrolling through it one day and finding a little gem you totally forgot you had.

Base: Precious Pixels KH

As the winner of my "Me in Grade 9" contest, Gaja earned a custom doll de moi. She asked me to doll her daughter in her Halloween costume from last year. I don't know if I did her justice, but I kinda like how the shoes turned out.

Base: Electronic Candy

Okay. I'm so evil that Halloween came and went before I finished Gaja's first doll, so I snuck in another one of this year's Halloween costume. Guilt: it's a great motivator!

Base: The Mouse Hole (left), PoppedArtDolls (right)

I took so long making Carmilla's Firefly contest award doll, that I created two to make up for my evil belatidity. For the uninitiated (which included myself at the onset of the request), this is Dan from the band The Darkness. On the left is my best attempt at tool shading curly hair. The more I look at it, the less I hate it, which is a backwards feeling for me. I rejigged my Andrew base for the full-length Dan . . . it still looks somewhat robotic marionette-ish, but at least the angles of his arms aren't quite so contortionistic.

Base: The Mouse Hole

This Captain Malcolm Reynolds (of Firefly fame) avatar is Elfie's award for placing 2nd in the Doll a Tea contest. She has a rawrness for Nathan Fillion and I can't say I blame her. I also have a rawrness for this base. It's saucy!

Base: Apitchou

Two PoppedArt contests, two first-place finishes for Kate, two custom dolls which take awhile, but end up looking pretty decent. The request was for a Chinese-style warrior/warrioress. At first, I was going to do something fairly straight-forward and simple, but then I came across these great paintings of ancient Chinese war generals and I really wanted to give them a go. I'm proud of the detail in this doll . . . I actually had to leave some details out, if you can imagine!

Base: Random Doodles

This doll belongs to Kate who won 1st prize in the Doll a Tea contest. She requested a doll in a sari, and I was quite game for it, as I like "international" outfits that require a lot of detail. But oh, the angst that accompanied this doll, mostly on account of the long flowy dressiness. It's the kind of outfit that scares the beejezuseses out of me. After much deliberation and needless tweaks, I think she turned out extremely alright. I'm particularly proud of the shading on the green bits.

Base: Uprising of the Dolls

Voici Pandemonium's award for her second place finish in the Doll a Tea contest. She requested a female warrior and I agreed, as long as no leather brassieres with matching skimpy loincloths were involved. I suppose that's all fine from an artistic point of view (especially if you're a guy who doesn't get out all that much) but the practicality, people! The practicality!

I don't know how practical THIS outfit is, but at least there's protection. What are those things on her shoulders? I'm not sure. Possibly armour, possibly landing gear.

Charm base: Nuclear Tes
Doll base: If Looks Could Kill

I've been somewhat charm happy over the past little while. Piecing together charm pieces is delightfully similar to assembling Lego. I donated these five charms to an FF auction; the five charms represent the forum's past five themes: Cinderella, Alice In Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty.

Base: The Golden Wood

I believe this is my second fairy ever. I'm going to chalk up my scarce fairy dolling to a general disinterest in faeness and NOT AT ALL to an intense fear of wings and wing shading. Anyway, she's a casual fairy, or cafae, if you will. Hmm . . . I think I'm on to something there. Cafae Cafe? Do they really make it out of pixies?

Base: Joyful Girl (site closed)

Custom doll for Verbina, who won the Britcom contest. Although there are plenty of Britcom characters I could have dolled as an award, I felt compelled to depict our favourite character from That 70s Show: Hyde. Hooray for sardonicity! In other news, I reeeely reeeeely have to figure out how to draw tight, curly hair. Any tut ideas/links? Please let me know!

Base: Netbelle

FeyMeggan, one of the winners of the Jemverse contest, asked me to doll a Jem peer: Frosta from the She-Ra posse. The size of the base seemed to increase exponentially the longer I worked on her, but I think she turned out alright.

Base: Shouri

As a winner in my TGS contest, Emmers qualified for a custom doll. The request was for Christine and Raoul à la "All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera (movie division). Two things: 1) I have yet to figure out curls and 2) this base is deceptively large! I think Raoul's locks stole 5 years from my life. Get a haircut, hippee! :p

All bases: Pixtoki

I made these three for the FF BBQ doorprize. I was reliving my youthful summers filled with fine, firey foods: hot dogs, hamburgers and marshmallows. Carbon-filled treats!

Base: Sanity Challenged

Custom doll created for one of the winners of my Femmes contest. She wanted a dashing doll of one of her RPG characters. I'm happy with the way he turned out, although I think I'd rather pinch his cheeks than be swept away by him - he's just so gosh darn cee-ute!

Mini-Cindi

Base: PoppedArtDolls

A mini-Cinderella, donated to the Treasure Chest at FF.
