Movie Dolls

Base: Wayuki's Place

His name is Inigo Montoya. You know the rest.

Base: ApplePixelBox

I made this doll for an Audrey Hepburn contest that's been in limbo for quite some time, so I've decided to make her adoptable. The outfit is from Funny Face. I think I got the colours right, but the pattern kind of reminds me of the kitchen curtains in the Simpson abode.

Base: Joyful Girl

Dolled for a Cult Movie Character contest. I had a difficult time choosing which character to tackle, and I'm not precisely sure why I chose one from a movie that 6 people have seen (it's a really small cult). I think this is the first time my character doll has even remotely resembled the character it's supposed to portray. Go me and my obsolete parking meter!

Base: Joyful Girl

Sorsha from Willow. I totally have to make a Madmartigan doll to go with.

Base: Joyful Girl

Martin Blank with one of my favourite quotes from Grosse Pointe Blank. An all-black doll. I must have been full of five kinds of crazy.

Base: Joyful Girl

I really have to stop entering contests when the deadline is mere hours away. I think my brain is getting an ulcer. This is for a Princess Leia contest. I've always wanted to doll Leia in Endor camo, so I started to do that, but then I went insane and did Leia as Bounty Hunter Boushh instead. Why do I insist on doing things to me? Regardless, I'm happy with the result.

*Insert Jabba-the-Hut-like laugh here*

(Hoo, hoo, hoo!)

Base: If Looks Could Kill

My local TV station aired Shanghai Noon recently, and I felt compelled to doll Owen Wilson as Roy O'Bannon. Mmm . . .
western wear.

Base: If Looks Could Kill

In between my frequent rants about how The Brothers Grimm was unfairly reviewed, I managed to find some energy to doll Jake & Will (AKA Heath & Matt) for a Brothers Grimm contest. I've always wanted to draw those nifty a late 18th century short jackets with tails. They're the keeniest!

Base: Random Doodles

Yay! Finally together at last! A recent Hamlet contest motivated me to finish Rosencrantz, so now Hamlet's two courtiers, as seen in Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead are together again. As they should be. Because having a Guil without a Ros is like having eggs without bacon, or a burger without fries, or a Thanksgiving dinner without Aunt Claire's mystery fruit salad.

Base: Random Doodles

Bravely bold Sir Robin, from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways.

Well, maybe a little.

Base: Random Doodles

Another character from The Holy Grail. Some call him . . . Tim.

TV Dolls

Base: Hush

Rik, Neil, Mike and Vyvyan from The Young Ones looking much, much cuter than they probably should. Originally, Mike was wearing his sunglasses, but it looked more like he had just been assaulted by Vyv. So now he's just Mike TheSlightlyLessCoolPerson.

Base: Dollz by MBladez

So there I was, flipping channels, and settling on the MTV Movie Awards. And there I was, watching Jimmy Fallon in a jacket, untucked shirt and white sneakers. And suddenly, there I was dolling it. Don't ask. It will make my brain hurt terribly. ;)

Base: Dolls In Blue

For a forum challenge where the idea was to doll a Star Trek character. I had to settle on a character from a series I actually watched and in the end, there was a coin toss between Chakotay and McCoy. Poor Bones. He's a doctor, not a pixel doll.

Base: If Looks Could Kill

I still can't believe I actually resorted to dolling a reality show contestant, but he was inspired by a conversation at FF wherein mutual like for geeky, gangly dolphin trainers was shared. I knew I could knock off a guy in nothing but shorts fairly quickly, hence the doll version of Ian from Survivor Pulau. This was done shortly before the series finale, which I still can't talk about without an overwhelming urge to throttle something.

Base: Pinkland

Princess Mitzi, from Monty Python's Fairy Tale. Complete with the Book of Princes, though without Herman, because I didn't have the heart to draw a bunny suffering from gastroenteritis.

Base: Dollz by Mbladez

Dave, Bruce, Kevin, Mark and Scott, circa 1989, the first season of Kids in the Hall. I believe I drew them after buying the Season 1 DVD and watching the whole thing in two sittings.

Base: Joyful Girl

Speaking of . . . my favourite two characters to ever emerge from Kids in the Hall: South American film star Francesca Fiore and her lover, Bruno Puntz Jones.

Base: Joyful Girl

After only two seasons, one of my favourite TV shows -- Joan of Arcadia -- was cancelled. [Long winded rant about evil TV network executives and ratings and time slots and age skews removed for your enjoyment.] After buying Season 1 of JoA on DVD, I dolled two of my favourite characters to console myself. This is everyone's favourite boyfriend, Adam Rove.

Base: Joyful Girl

My second favourite character, the ever-militant Grace Polk. Although I like the jacketless version better, it just isn't Grace without her big, black leather jacket.

Cartoon & Video Game Dolls

Base: Pixellence

Queen Cornet from Puppet Princess 2, although I had to look that up because I've never heard of the game before. (She was a contest entry and I was rather taken with the supplied picture of the character). I don't know why I insist on attempting pageant dolls; my inspiration usually peters out halfway through the second doll. My determination needs more vitamin B!

Base: Kristyn Dawn

Okay, more cartoony than an actual cartoon, this is me dressed up as Homestarruner's resident loser, Strong Sad. Days after I finished, I realized I was under the false impression Strong Sad had only 3 fingers. D'oh!

Base: Joyful Girl

I have no idea what Magna Carta is all about, besides being a video game I've never seen. However, the widely-circulated sketches of the characters intrigue me. Their clothes are a creative combination of futuristic, formal and fight-gear, which is right up my alley. I jumped on the chance to enter a Magna Carta contest, however the site hosting the contest has been MIA for over a month, so I've decided to make her adoptable.

Base: Neon Raspberry

As soon as I saw this base, I had this in mind: back to back Jem and Pizzazz.

Base: Heartsdesire's Fantasy

Really rough, but this rendition of Pizzazz was one of my first dolls, so I'm letting it slide. It was my also my first time drawing a face and I'm pretty happy with it. Lesson learned? There's a verrry fine line between an expression with attitude and an expression of wild-eyed psychosis.

Base: Ambrosia Dreams

11th installment of the Base of the Month club at FF.
I can't believe it's taken me this long to do a Moonie doll. Say hello to Sailor Pluto.

Base: Pixel Junkies

Rose from Street Fighter Alpha II. Gotta love a girl who can look so fashionable while kicking your butt into next week.

Base: Pixel Junkies

Chun Li, in her traditional outfit. Another older doll that turned out in such a way that I was inspired to keep on dolling, while desperately looking for ways to improve. Which of course leads to dolling addiction. Well, that's what my therapist says. ;)
