Video Games

Base: Pixellence

Queen Cornet from Puppet Princess 2, although I had to look that up because I've never heard of the game before. (She was a contest entry and I was rather taken with the supplied picture of the character). I don't know why I insist on attempting pageant dolls; my inspiration usually peters out halfway through the second doll. My determination needs more vitamin B!

Base: Pixel Bee

This is a very rough fit into "video games", I know, but I associate "video games" with "computer" and "computer" is the only way to access Homestarrunner. This is my wiggly line of thinking. Anyway, this is me dressed up as Homestarruner's resident loser, Strong Sad. Days after I finished, I realized I was under the false impression Strong Sad had only 3 fingers. D'oh!

Base: Joyful Girl (site closed)

I have no idea what Magna Carta is all about, besides being a video game I've never seen. However, the widely-circulated sketches of the characters intrigue me. Their clothes are a creative combination of futuristic, formal and fight-gear, which is right up my alley. I created this doll for a Magna Carta contest that kind of fizzled into oblivion . . . along with the whole website!

Base: Pixel Junkies (site closed)

Rose from Street Fighter Alpha II. Gotta love a girl who can look so fashionable while kicking your butt into next week.

Base: Pixel Junkies (site closed)

Chun Li, in her traditional outfit. Another older doll that turned out in such a way that I was inspired to keep on dolling, while desperately looking for ways to improve. Which of course leads to dolling addiction. Well, that's what my therapist says. ;)

Base: Guinevere's Pixels (site closed)

These three characters are the stars of an ancient (1997, heh) Sierra RPG called Betrayal In Antara. It was one of the first PC games I ever played and I have a huge soft spot for it. The story and characters were intriguing, however the graphics left something to be desired. The main characters' wardrobes are so bad, I always feel compelled to doll them in halfway decent duds.

Base: Random Doodles

Aren, the magic user, out of his grunge-era beachwear and into something a little more decent.

Base: Random Doodles

Kaelyn, the resident ranger, gives up the tomboywear. I'm quite happy with her hair, even if it looks a bit weird.

Base: Random Doodles

William, a noble and a fighter, out of his sweater and jogging pants (guh, it's such a travesty) and into something indescribable, but hopefully more becoming.

Base: Mopiryland

I think this was the first doll I ever completed that I was remotely happy with. I have to admit, though, I didn't draw the arrows, but rather lifted them right from the game. I lacked the confidence to draw them at the time, which is a bit weird, since the bow is more difficult and I think I did a decent job with it, squarish curves notwithstanding.

Base: Dreams In Digital

William, early on in the game, wearing shabby leather armour. This doll was my shoe breakthrough doll. I couldn't draw shoes to save my life until I drew these. I think I've got it now!
